Poll: Clueless Explosion Contest

Post by lynn893 »

Are you interested in competing for top dog on the list system for Clueless Explosions on this site? :?:

Please vote now if you would be interested in this!

Thanks! (and I look forward to racing you to the top)
It does take some time to build a contest system for the Clueless Explosions. I would like to be sure that there will be other players participating.

Maybe you can start a poll to see how many players are interested...

Hi cowgirl,

I'd actually love to see the explosions come out on Thursdays.
As the Clueless Special is on Saturday, and the Samauri is on Tuesday, the Explosion would be a great followup on Thursdays....

What do you think?

sure why not...
I think ive already voted for this over the last year.
the explosions got much harder
so this will be a true contest

there are several i could not solve
or at least I havent exerted enough effort yet

i can do a ( backtracking, T&E, guess) solver for a single grid
but havent yet tried it for 10 interlocked grids.

in my gust (grand unified sudoku theory) i think a regular sudoku can be represented by 27 simultanious equations with 81 variables.
with at least 17 are givens, this in finite arithmetic

the clueless gives 270 equations with 729 variables and im fairly sure
the number of givens hasnt been found yet
come to think of it 243 equations 729 variables may be a complete description with 27 more equations to describe the interacting overlapping grid

these should be solavable rather easily i still have mercury and eureka around to try it but im not to sure if dos is transferable to the 2G memory space in the dam windoze computer .

inverting matrices used to be a test of computing speed... dont see that much anymore... except possibly on video cards moving solids in 3 space.
I have a 286 machine with the IIT copressor but the one on the vid card is 1000x the speed... i havent yet interfaced with that.

i made a mastermind solver that gives a huge possibility tree 4 or 5 columns could work in win95 with 6 colums or a bit larger number of colours but windows95 would start doing the virtual memory thing and die.
win xp swaps to disk without killing the computer but when ram trades to disk you start to notice the millisecond vs nanosecond ram vs hd access
(note you can open stuff bigger than 64k in notepad now)

perhaps i can find a used cray on ebay it has a better documented vector processor than the vid cards that somtimes explain quickdraw or directx compatability

Then there is the day job which is calling to me right now ...

You got a "Yes" from me! But, please, no extra-point-speed-system as with the clueless contest.

Yes they are harder.
I came in saturday to find a different site.
and lo the explosion had been there for 3 days.
All of Lynns wishes have come true.

Ruud has a fondness for newbies.

The clueless explosions now have incentive for solving the harder ones.
I can get my name on a list.

clueless on saturday
explosion on thursday
samurai on tuesday
new look on 2007

extremes tomorrow

thanks to Ruud for filling out the week.

It will remain to see who holds out longer the puzzle makers or the puzzle solvers.

Hopefully im not as busy as Ruud so I may have a chance.
All of Lynns wishes have come true.
I just really love solving sudoku.... all forms..... from the wonderful clueless specials & explosions, to the samauri, to the regular 3x3 grids, to the a-y large 5x5 grids.... I just love this passtime.

And, I thank Ruud for having this passion as well, cause if he didn't, he wouldn't put so much of himself into this site to make us all happy......

Special on Saturday, Samauri on Tuesday, Explosion on Thursday... I'm in love...

Thanks Ruud! You are the best!

(Now if you can only fix my rating on the clueless special, all would be perfect)
Hi Ruud,

As you know, I am fairly new to your site. I have just begun to participate in your lists for Clueless and Samauri.

The first time I tried to submit my answer in Clueless Special (which was correct), I had periods in the formatting and so it submitted as 'errors'. I looked at the program and noticed the 'copy solution' and then hit that and resubmitted with my work email address.

I will be more careful in my submissions in the future, but my question to you is: is there any way for you to go into the submission lists and fix my mistake by either removing one of them or merging them? (The answers posted were correct - just not submitted correctly)

Thanks Ruud.
OK, your entries have been merged, but please do not tell this to any of the other players.
