Ruud's specialty puzzles

Post by enxio27 »

I've been "collecting" a bunch of Ruud's specialty puzzles that aren't found in the usual Sudocue archives--puzzles he's posted to various forums, etc. A few of these gems are on his specialty page, often accompanied by amusing descriptions. Here's what I've found so far, listed in chronological order by posting date. (I'm not into killer or jigsaw or letter sudoku, so I haven't included them. Also, nonsymetrical puzzles grate on my sense of aesthetics. I'll leave it to someone else to catalog those.) I hope you enjoy these:

Thanks for assembing this collection. Some of these puzzles I almost forgot about. I hope you will keep this list up-to-date in the future.

I'll keep posting them as I find them. As you can see, I've already got the Black Friday Taiken you posted just a few minutes ago on the Specials page. :)

Here is the codestring for the Easter-X puzzle. Let me know if there are any mistakes. I'll work out the rest of the missing ones as I can.

Just a little bump so that everyone knows this listing is still being maintained and updated. (Editing the original post doesn't change the date of the post so that it shows up as new.)

In addition to checking here every week or two, I do a search every couple of months through Ruud's usual haunts, but occasionally one of his specialty puzzles still eludes me. If I've missed any puzzles along the way, let me know.

clueless sumo #001

Post by lynn893 »

Hey everyone, if possible, I need a clue to the clueless sumo #001 - the blue grid in the 8th box. Just a clue, please. I've run into a brick wall where everywhere I look, there is an xwing or just an unsolvable path. I'm stuck, and really don't want to guess.

Anyone at all?

Your assistance in this is really greatly appreciated!

I was finally able to finish this.... the swordfish in the middle row of the blue grids is what threw me for a loop..... :o)

Why did I not discover this excellent thread and collection earlier?
Too busy coding I presume.
Now I must include MOAG and DOAG into TUSP, solve these monsters and pray that Ruud comes back too us and makes more of them.

I've just updated this thread to correct links to some puzzles. Apparently sudoku.org.uk completely revamped their forums, and the links to those forums were no longer good. They are now.
