(Unofficial) Assassin 99.5
A midweek Assassin to keep you going until sudokuEd's UA100. Don't be fooled by the equatorial nonets. They are designed to lull you into a sense of false security. The Assassin shows its true colours when you venture forth to the poles. SS rating 1.29. Enjoy :) http://members.shaw.ca/fdkr2/fdkr064....

Richard's SudokuSolver v3.0.0 rates this as 0.48 and also 0.60 depending on how I open the file. However if a puzzle ever deserved a rating of 0 it is this one. I have been very interested in SudokuSolver ratings and have used it to rate many puzzles from different sites with fascinating results. I ...

My procedure for attacking Assassins. 1. Open JSudoku. 2. File->Fetch->SudoCue->Weekly Assassin Killer. 3. Hit <ctrl> D 100 times. 4. If the grid turns every colour of the rainbow and the log file says "No enabled solver can progress !" head off to the pub. 5. If not, get pencil and paper ...

Very nice .
The weekly Assassins are posted at 3 pm Thursday afternoon here
on the west coast of Canada, so I am usually the first one to concede
defeat . It is nice to claim victory for a change.

Nice one. Here is my jiggery-pokery (T & E) walkthrough: 1. Outies of C12 => R19C3 = 6 2. Innies of R89 => R8C37 = 5 3. Innies of N8 => R7C456 = 8 4. Outies of N7 => R6C1+R7C4 = 4 => R6C1+R7C4 = [13], [22], or [31] Now comes the jiggery-pokery part :) [13] quickly leads to a contradiction [22] q...

Assassin 45
Tough one to get started. My approach was to work with the hidden 21/3 cage in C8N6 and the 22/3 cage in N69. The hidden 21/3 cage cannot be {678} because of the 6/2 cage, so must contain a 9. The 22/3 cage must contain a 9. This can't be R6C9. To show it can't be R7C9 compute outies of N9 = 36, and...

I used the same solution, rotated the cages 90 degrees, and after a minor adjustment I came up with this: http://members.shaw.ca/fdkr2/fdkr031.png 3x3::k:7424: 2309:2309:4876:4876:2061:2307:3846:5922:7424:1796:1796:4876:2061:2061:2307:3846:5922:7424:3091:3091:4373:3350:3607:1304:1304:5922:7424:7424:...
