Assassin 85

Hello all and a belated Happy New Year! :D I see no-one has yet posted about this week's assassin and I'm not surprised. I have 3 placements and am totally stuck. Tried it again using JS which cannot solve it! (I'm unlikely to be posting any WTs any time soon - especially when the puzzles are as har...

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year (might not get a chance to visit the site again until after the festivities!)

Sorry I haven't been around so much lately. More time Ruud?!!! Not in this household!

All the best

I'll second that! I'd been looking at 78 on and off all week and still didn't crack it. (Had to cheat and look at the posted WTs :( )

 I've been rumbled!

Just got home and have to go cook dinner shortly but I will be posting my WT later on.

I'm sure some of the 'new kids on the block' will be catching me up very soon with the first posts. Welcome to you all. :)

Assassin 76

Getting in first again :D

Will be checking my WT later and then posting it but for now key moves include innies of N9, a couple of conflicting combinations and killer pairs. Rating of 1.00 imho.

Finally got there. :) Total time about 4 hours and I haven't done a WT! Fortunately it did fall fairly quickly after the first placement. The outies - innies of N2, N4, N6 and N8 helped a bit, N2 and N4 more so after analysing the combo options. First placement was 2 at r1c2 which followed a complex...

Well done Susan! I'm struggling with it :? :( - hoping it will be one of those that falls fairly quickly once you've got the first few placements. Lunch break over so will have to persevere later - I feel a bout of combo crunching coming on. I suppose the 4 could be to do with the quads resulting fr...

My first placement in Maverick 1 came early but it was almost at the end before I got any more. I presume that was at r3c7. Haven't had much time to look at it today so no progress. I managed to mess up today's Times puzzle. Somehow, I'd made 3+7 = 11  Note to self: check the basics before tr...

Don't worry about the TT Andrew - I'm unlikely to be doing a WT for it myself and I won't peek at yours until I've finished or given up! Got first placement during break today but basics haven't yielded much else so far!

Hi Mike! You're right there - I'd much rather use URs, colouring and other techniques like x-wings, grouped x-wings, in addition to standard 45s etc, than lots of heavy combo crunching when I'm solving. I haven't had a chance to have a go at Maverick 1 yet (hopefully it will be quiet at work tomorro...

Back-tracking to the original A74 - I finally finished it on Saturday. Haven't had time to do a WT so far (still catching up on other puzzles  ) but I did make use of a grouped turbot fish (4) to place 3 in r3c7.

Hi Susan and welcome from me too. It's really good to have another female here!! I've only just printed out this week's puzzle to look at in lunch break later. Also got some catching up to do after being away for a few days. ttfn Cathy x Edit: 13 placements during lunch break. Hopefully can finish o...

No time for a full WT this week as heading to Cornwall for a few days tomorrow, but outies of r5, outies of N5 and outies of c1234 helped to complete N5 early on. Mainly straightforward combo crunching and a couple of killer pairs after that.
